West Orange Senior Housing, An Age-Restricted (62+), Income-Restricted Community

West Orange Senior Housing serves as an exemplary model of a successful public-private partnership.

Recognizing the pressing need for affordable housing in the community, The Township of West Orange identified an opportunity to repurpose the site of an aging library (originally built in the 1950’s) into 65 affordable senior apartments. Leveraging a grant program, the library was relocated to a new facility and through demolition, adaptive reuse, and new construction, a modern and energy efficient community in a prime location will serve seniors for decades to come. The community will serve a mix of income ranges between 30% – 60% Area Median Income (AMI) and is restricted as affordable housing in perpetuity.
